Homophobic, Biphobic and Transphobic Bullying and LGBT Inclusion in English Schools

Welcome to the website for the research project on homophobic, biphobic and transphobic (HBT) bullying and LGBT inclusion in English schools.

This is the largest known research study on HBT bullying and LGBT inclusion ever conducted in English schools.

It was funded by what was then called the Government Equalities Office (now known as the Women and Equalities Unit).

The research included:

• Surveys with school staff and pupils
• Interviews and discussion groups with school staff and pupils
• Observations in schools
• Reviews of school documents.

In total, over 61,000 pupils and staff from 853 schools in England took part.
